Duties

1. Recommending Content - Adding links to our database to share with our audience. It takes approximately one minute to add each link to our database. The on-line form requires you to write an interesting title and description and to classify the link by its appropriate category. You may either add links you discover yourself or else cherry-pick the best links submitted by our visitors.

2. Writing Columns - Write an interesting and high quality column that appeals to those who don’t know you. It should be grammatically correct and spell-checked and it should be distinct from a typical blog/journal entry that generally only appeals to friends and family, if anyone.

3. Writing Newsletters -- Newsletters consist of a small journal entry and handpicked links and columns from our database related to the subject area. Newsletters should be sent weekly or every other week.

4. Moderating Communities - Post a column on a frequent basis related to the topic of your community either written by you or submitted to you by a Backwash audience member. Handpick links from our database that the community may find of interest. Participate in chats and on the message boards. Communities may be co-moderated.

5. Moderating Channels - Each day or every other day, check the links classified under a specific category by fellow columnists to ensure it is categorized correctly and reclassify it if necessary.

6. Active Participation - recruit and invite your friends and family, host chats, post comments on the message boards, interact with the audience and facilitate participation by our visitors.

7. General Administrative Duties - includes anything and everything, from helping write instructions, soliciting partnerships, deleting offensive photos & comments, assisting visitors, assisting in design and development of the site, reviewing new member applications, and pretty much anything else that needs to get done.
